I just wrote a gigantic rant about how much I hate my job, but when it was done I just… couldn’t post it. Heck I… felt like I didn’t NEED to post it. I guess writing the rant was all I needed to get all that negative energy out.
I still hate my fucking job, though.
As some of you know (very few actually) I don’t present as female at work. I should, but when you work in retail, it’s hard to make the switch, especially when your coworkers are mainly stupid kids and old people. A few people know, but not many.
Let me also just say that every time I get “sir"ed by a customer it just ruins my fucking day, even worse when they call me "miss” or “ma'am” initially, then they hear my voice and they… apologize. Ugh. I realize yeah, they have no way of knowing, but what they see isn’t what matters to me, it’s who I am, etc.
Anyway, one customer comes through and I can’t remember what she said completely, but she initially said “he”… then corrected herself with “she”. I was shocked, astounded even. I’ve NEVER had this happen to me before (at work anyway). I really wanted to stop her and say, “Thank you. For reasons you’ll probably never understand.”
It was a little self-confidence boost, and it sure as hell made me smile.
