ok so I got a reply back from LEGO about the Wedge minifig
and while the reply is what you’d expect I can’t get over all the little (TMs) everywhere, take a look:
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
You are correct in noticing that Wedge Antilles™ is not nearly as detailed as other Star Wars™ characters In fact the only thing that was special about this character was the helmet he was wearing was specific to him. Other than that you cannot tell him apart from any other Rebel Pilot. The reason for the lack of detail on this character is due to our printing capabilities on minifigure heads in 2006 compared with todays characters.
Commander Antilles is such a vital character in the Star Wars universe including assisting with the destruction of both the Death Star™ and Death Star II™ as well as taking down the first AT-AT™ ever with the help of Wes Janson™. Due to Commander Antilles’ many roles there is always the chance that he might be brought back and painted more accurately since we have better processes now. Keep your eye out on upcoming LEGO sets as you never know what is coming.
