Marauder Inc. Headware Test Shots
Hokay, so, I’m here with something pretty cool, and it’s not Gunpla-related!
So about a week or two ago, I picked up some fantastic G.I. Joe Retaliation figures on the cheap from five below, and as awesome as they are I took issue with one: Flint’s lack of a beret. Flint’s one of my favorite characters, so I went to Marauder Inc.’s facebook page and asked them if their beret would fit onto Flint’s head. They said they weren’t sure, since they were out of stock, but they asked me to send them an email.
The person in charge of the page replied to my email, and said he took a look at my Facebook profile and saw that I was not only into G.I. Joe, but Gundam as well! Since fans of both are, well, few and far between, he decided to send me some of the hat prototypes from their Marauder Task Force Kickstarter so I can try them out on some other 1:18th scale figures. So, let’s take a look at them…
First up, the cap, being modeled here by Dwayne The Rock Johnson. I like this one a lot more than I expected. Fits pretty dang well.
The beret is the one I wanted the most, but I’m not toooo enthralled with it? On Flint, anyway. Because….
Gasp–It fits on a female figure’s head! In fact, I’d say it fits better on Lady Jaye than Flint. I’m not sure if it works with the outfit, though.
The boonie cap is really cool, too, and looks awesome on Duke. Fits pretty snug and looks great.
Shipwreck’s modeling the scarf, which on its own, is kinda eh. It’s hard to find a figure it works on alone. Until…
Yeah, combined with a combat vest, the scarf looks awesome. This is pretty much how it’s meant to work.
The goggles are a bit of a tight squeeze, but with enough finagling you can get it onto some figures’ heads. They’re extremely well-sculpted and I hope they release them in multiple clear colors.
Last and, I guess least, is the gas mask. I’m not big on gas masks but this one is certainly pretty awesome. It’s all hard angles and robot-looking and badass, and fits pretty well on most figures.
Overall, these hats are pretty rad, and I’m really honored by Marauder’s decision to send them to me. I’m really excited for their Marauder Task Force line, and I hope to get one or two of them in the future. Now if only they’d announce a female figure…
