On the writers reunion feature on the season 3 bluray, they all pretty much admit that despite how hard they worked on First Contact, the series finale was a much stronger story.
I think you mean Generations.
anyway, the tl;dr for the First Contact early draft: Riker and Picard’s roles were switched (meaning; Riker did all the action movie stuff while Picard did all the stuff with the Phoenix), Cochrane had a smaller role, and none of the stuff with Picard’s connection to the Borg was present.
So today!
it was a day of ADVENTUUUUUUUUUURE
Kurt is visiting Diana and I from the east coast for the week, and we decided to go down to San Jose. First, we went to Tatsu Hobby’s new warehouse (in a pretty seedy-ass neighborhood) and spent a bit too long chatting with the guy in charge about Gunpla. He came in to talk with us because he could tell by our conversation that we obviously all knew our shit. We met up with Dani which was spectacular cuz we’ve never gotten to hang out before. Oh, and before you ask, I didn’t leave Tatsu empty-handed:

They just got this in yesterday, I was SO HAPPY. And yes, I did sand and build it today. Painting to come soon.
So then we headed off to Winchester Mystery House, which was kinda awesome. It’s pretty much a house made of creepypasta. Of course there were these two obnoxious kids in our tour group who I just wanted to kick, ugh. But it was lots of fun regardless.
THEN we went to Curry House. God I love Curry House, uhmf. such delicious curry.
So we dropped Dani off back at Tatsu Hobby then headed home. After that we showed Kurt Gundam Build Fighters and he liked it, and he showed us Venus Wars which was awesome, while I built Build Strike. Twas a damn good day.
oh, btw, Dani is adorable.

(I hope some of you noticed my shirt immediately)
Sell other Gunpla. Buy gunpla you actually want to build.
the problem is I always plan for projects way too far in advance and by the time I make it to that project I just don’t care enough to make it, y'know? Then I just do it out of obligation…
Might try clearing out the backlog someway, idk.
To be fair, not like the cartoon was the greatest at size consistency with the bots at times.
Transformers IN GENERAL is terrible with SCAAAAAAAALE.
Best example: the Beast Machines toyline, where the tallest Maximal had the shortest toy.
Saying Dark of the Moon isn’t as bad as Revenge of the Fallen is like saying one pile of steaming shit stinks less than the other. Can’t wait to feel my soul die inside when TF4 is another billion dollar hit.
oh stop being so melodramatic
…look, while these movies aren’t exactly good, and while they DO paint a negative image of the franchise to people who aren’t fans, they’ve been damn good to us.
They’ve made Hasbro fuckloads of money, which they’ve used rather responsibly. Did you know that between the first and second movies, there were three toylines going on at once? THREE: Animated, Movie, and Universe. It was unprecedented.
They’ve launched a cable channel following the success of these movies, for Christ’s sake. A TOY COMPANY OWNING A CABLE CHANNEL. Hasbro basically gave themselves immunity of getting fucked over by the channels their shows are on, see: Transformers Animated. And frankly, they don’t even CARE if you’re watching the show online or on your TV, because it means you’ll probably go out and buy the toys. You know, like Jojo or Kamen Rider.
I can also pretty much guarantee that the second Bay is out of the picture, we’re going to see a huge live-action franchise reboot, probably featuring a more “classic” aesthetic or feel.
tl;dr, yeah, these movies aren’t good and Michael Bay is a numbskull, but they helped make the franchise more relevant than it has been in 30 years. And well, I think that’s worth it.
Nope, instead we get Shia LeDouche being male-wish fulfillment for two and ½ hours with some nauseating cgi mayhem thrown in. I couldn’t do DotM without Rifftrax.
honestly as irritating as these movies are, I’m tired of all the Bay-bashing. It’s just the same old shit over and over and over again.
I’m crazy tempted to try and get Chronicle made for Otakon. Not sure it’ll happen, but definitely want to do something Gundam soon.
Katsucon. Do it for Katsu. You will find why soon.
If you or Diana would be willing to make me scans of Chronicle’s uniform from Victory if it’s in the book, I would seriously appreciate it! :o
We’ll probably do a bunch of scans at some point. What they basically have are comprehensive images of the basic uniform, plus all of the standard lineart so you can compare/contrast.
I’m actually thinking of doing Fuala Griffon myself at some point.
thegreatsg replied to your photo: This was from a worst anime youve ever seen…
Hey, remember that guy who kept trying to defend Seed against you and I on Cos.com and his big rebuttal was that I was probably one of those people who thought Enterprise was awful and didnt stick through to its last season which was amazing. Yeah
….I actually don’t, thankfully.
