ehhh I like Tenchi but it’s kinda one of those things that came and went? Like I LOVE Universe but the first OVA didn’t really do much for me and Tokyo was….. yeah even as a kid I didn’t want to watch it.
Naoto is a cis woman who (because of JP sexism) believes that to be respected she has to pretend to be a man. When she realizes she doesn’t have to, she openly presents herself as a woman and states that as a woman she is just as good as a man
yyyyyyeeeaaah people forget about Japan’s sexism. Of course, America is hella sexist too but it’s the kind of thing that’s expressed differently in different cultures and well, people here forget that.
I used to hate Chihiro more than any other character. Guess who was my premier cosplay for Otakon. Haha. Chihiro isn’t that bad. The Chihiro fandom??? Horrible.
I’m sure Chihiro in fiction is a fine character, but he’s a massive case of people letting their interpretations of a fictional character cloud their judgement regarding how the character actually is. I haven’t played DR, and I don’t really care to. In fact, characters like Chihiro kinda piss me off because let’s face it, Japan is pretty gross as far as gender and queer politics are concerned. Trans people aren’t exactly something Japan knows too much about. And you know, generally, headcanons can be fine, and while trans headcanons can drive me up the wall, some of them are pretty harmless. You wanna think Levi from Attack on Titan is trans? Go for it. There’s nothing that interferes with this headcanon. But in the case of Chihiro, there’s a lot of evidence that does clash with it,and I think this needs to be respected.

tl;dr just because you think a character is trans doesn’t make them one, and please respect the creator’s original intentions
also please stop objectifying the trans experience because you want a character to be your babby, thanks.
