Did you know there’s a Starfleet ship commanded by an ogre?
The USS Shrekcelsior.
There is now officially a version of “Never Gonna Give You Up” in Klingon.
Knock yourselves out, Trekkies.
My fucking God.
You haven’t heard Never Gonna Give You Up until you’ve heard it in the original Klingon.
I know we’re a TNG blog but this made me laugh and I’m sure many of you will enjoy this. I look forward to the day when we start assessing DS9 fashions. BUT FIRST WE MUST FINISH TNG.
h/t to my girl Leanna!
This video should be shown to everyone interested in starting DS9
I feel like I have to remind everyone of this videos existence every few years
because I think we could all use some good vibes and smile right now
I didn’t even have to click play to know what video this was
i felt the need to remind everyone of this when we got trashed this past weekend
[I always felt that Scorpion was a bad episode for Janeway. She seemed to be making many descions that were out of character. I could never see Janeway picking a side in a war, let alone creating a weapon to attack an entire species.]
I disagree, I think her decisions were IN character… that’s the Janeway the series SHOULD have had.

What if TOS had 900% more central female characters?(Since I don’t want to stretch your dashboards any more than I have already, I’ve written some thoughts about the characters and the process that went into making the graphics under the cut.)

Me: Let’s see what’s on the radio.
DJ: “It’s a tragic day for all men today—Leonard Nimoy died. Most boys had a Star Trek phase growing up. You girls probably have trouble telling the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek, but trust me, it’s a big deal that he’s gone.”
Me: …
Me: Seriously? What year is this?
Leonard Nimoy is rolling in his fucking grave
Fake geek boys don’t even know that women are why Star Trek got on air to begin with (Lucille Ball of Desilu productions!), women are why it stayed on air (fangirls writing letters to Paramount & NBC keep it from getting dropped!), women ran the first conventions (Joan Winston!) and women wrote the first guidebooks (Bjo Trimble!).
Fake geek boys don’t know that Leonard Nimoy was an outspoken feminist who campaigned to get equal pay for the female actors on the show, and who after his Star Trek days continued to advance feminist goals like fat body acceptance.
Star Trek is women’s territory. Get the fuck outta my sci-fi, fake geek boys, and take your ignorant sexism with you.

[I hate the rivalry there seems to be between the DS9 and VOY fandoms. If you say something bad about Voyager, niners usually completely agree but if you don’t like DS9 you get all kinds of retaliation. Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot of awesome niners who never do this but it’s just a problem that needs fixing.]
that’s cuz DS9 was a Star Trek show written by people who grew up watching Star Trek and Voyager was written by people just trying to collect a paycheck
