Spock grabbing Jim’s shoulder was both necessary and unnecessary
I mean, yeah, it was necessary… he was putting a tracking device on his back. It’s a plot point later on in the movie.
The awkward moment when you make a bullshit sexist meme about “fake geek girls”, but aren’t quite geek enough yourself to know that Spock did hold the rank of Captain from Star Trek II to VI, making the “fake geek girl” in this scenario 8,000 per cent more legit geek than you.

Star Trek concept art, Enterprise interior sets - Mike Minor (1977)
why is this post not being reblogged all over my dash in an orgiastic frenzy of delight LOOK AT IT
These are beautiful
Such detail!
Oh wow, I would have loved if we’d had camera angles like the first image in TOS. These are so fantastic, there’s this real haze of ethereal future on them.
This is the concept art for Star Trek: Phase II, a series idea that got pretty far into production before they scrapped it in favor of The Motion Picture.
Personally? I’m glad this didn’t happen. Imagine the first season of TNG with Spock replaced by another Vulcan named Xon, and I think Kirk getting axed less than ten episodes in so Decker can take command. And yes, no Spock.
