If you wanna call Golion “Voltron” or DaiZyuJin “the Megazord” or even Tetsujin-28 “Gigantor”, I don’t really care. They’re both technically correct.
But when you see random Japanese robot #47 and refer to it as either of those or a Transformer or whatever and get all offended when someone corrects you, then yeah, you’re kind of a jackass.
That being said I tend to refer to stuff by the names I usually get brought up on, or what’s the most “correct”. Like, if I’m playing an SRW with Golion or Tetsujin-28 in it, I’m going to call them Golion and Tetsujin-28. If the game explicitly called them Voltron and Gigantor, I’d call ‘em Voltron and Gigantor. Simple as that.
Also, if you’re going to insist on calling them by the American names, then you kind of have to call Mazinger Z “Tranzor Z” and Getter Robo G “Starvenger Robo”.
and NOBODY wants to do that.
