The world looks down on you
Because you’re not the norm.
You didn’t mean to make a challenge,
That’s just the hand you were dealt.
There isn’t a wrong thing you did do
You can’t be held responsible for your form.
But a space where any can live
Is a space you’ll be treated as evil.
They stare at you
They push you
They fear you
They demonize you
They scapegoat you
They kill you.
But all you want to do
Is live your life.
You wonder to yourself,
Is the only way to join them
To go under the knife?
But even then,
You’ll still be an “other”;
An undesirable caste.
But that won’t be the last,
Because I think to myself,
“It’s my own life,
I’ll do with it as I please.”
Because it’s my happiness
I won’t be on my knees.
