So, hey, Tumblr. I’m not very into talking about my personal life outside of a private setting online, but I suppose push comes to shove sometimes, and right now, I need your halp.
I’m in the process of going through a divorce. I packed up my things and moved out on February 1st, and things have been weird since. iThe agreement in the divorce (and, in fact, when we first discussed permanent separation) was that my spouse would take on some of the debt we’d accrued together. In the papers signed, there was an agreement for alimony. Neither one of those things are going to happen, as far as I can tell. My spouse’s phone has been shut off and she moved out of the old apartment abruptly last month. There’s been no communication whatsoever. If you’re in touch with her, well, I won’t stop you from telling her this, because I would have if I could! Ha ha.
Basically, all this has piled onto some really severe mental health problems and rather than hospitalize myself (can’t afford it!) I quit my job at Starbucks last week so that I can cry in bed instead of in the breakroom.
This puts me in a dumb financial pickle: I have exactly enough money to pay my bills this month and not a dollar more. It’s seriously a weird amount, too. I’m startled.
I know way more people have it way harder than I do. I’m lucky to have a place to stay, food to eat, and I’m safe and well-cared for. But I’m going to file for bankruptcy in May, and need to squeak by until I can get a new job. When my transfer got messed up initially, I applied for handfuls of other jobs in February and got nowhere. I’m back at it now, but I can’t tell the future any better than I could before.
The tl;dr of it all is that I don’t want to ask for something for nothing, so this is what I can offer: I’m willing to do things for money!

I will! If it’s a fandom I know, that’ll be easy enough; if it’s not, well… I’ll do my best.

Please help save my kidneys.
Hello world! I’m Vikki, and I need your help raising money to pay for my orchiectomy. I am a transgender woman (meaning I suffer from gender dysphoria) and must take spironolactone – a testosterone blocker that is very hard on the liver and kidneys. I have been taking spiro (among other hormones) since November of 2012. Long-term use can cause complete renal failure, and the damage to ones’ liver and kidneys is cumulative.
According to my doctor, my kidneys are showing the first signs of being damaged by the Spironolactone. There are some things I can do to possibly slow down the progression of this, but in reality, renal failure is a major risk we trans women take when beginning hormone therapy. My doctor told me that my current levels would lead to pancreatitis if left unchecked.
Spiro also likes to hang on to potassium. High levels of potassium will cause heart failure. There are some dietary changes I am making which will temper the damage, however my doctor would really like to take me off the spiro all together.
Because spiro blocks testosterone, it is essential to the treatment of gender dysphoria. My dysphoria got much worse when my dose was lowered, and my emotional state was far from stable. However I must stop taking spiro within the next 6 months, or the damage can be irreparable. I asked my doctor for an alternative, and he told me I should get an orchiectomy, or de-transition. The latter is NOT an option.
A lot of people think that transgender related surgeries are elective or cosmetic, this is one that isn’t. It will save my life. I need it before the damage to my kidneys gets worse, and before liver damage begins. While my ultimate goal is full surgical transition, the first step for me must be an orchiectomy (the removal of my testicles) so that I can stop taking this medication which is damaging my kidneys.

So here’s the thing.
I need oral surgery, badly. I have needed it for years, but in the past six months, the teeth have just gotten worse, and the pain is worse and more frequent.
The estimate for the cost of all services to be rendered is over
two thousand4600 dollars, even with the insurance plan I was able to purchase last year. We don’t have a lot of money, and things keep happening. My mom just had major surgery a month ago. She can’t even sleep in her bed yet, she’s having to sleep in a recliner, and that’s costing us, too.Long story short, I need surgery badly and I could really use some help. I never wanted to make this post, but I’m pretty desperate.

I’m going back to Otakon and wanted to spread the word that a Gundam Gathering will (hopefully!) happen this year.

Hey there, Homestucks - Anime Boston is about a month away, and so it’s time to announce the FRIDAY NIGHT BARSTUCK on 5/24! Barstuck is scheduled for 9 PM Friday night at the Hilton hotel bar, one of AB’s overflow hotels located directly across from the Sheraton’s front doors. This will be above the Anime Boston 21+ lounge, but folks are welcome to migrate downstairs for dancing and more lounging at any point. Formal costumes are encouraged for fun and fancy times, but not required! Really, no costumes are required at all, nor is any actual alcohol - just stop by to chat and mingle with your fellow older fans.
There are three rules we’d like to enforce:
- As this event will be taking place at a bar that cards, this event is 21+. As always, this is not an attempt to discriminate - there are tons of other meetups taking place all weekend that you can join, so thank you for being understanding!
- Anything you purchase MUST be on your own personal tab. Please do not start any group table tabs with strangers as this can cause huge confusion and trouble when it comes time to pay the bill - be very clear about this when it comes time to order.
- Because the Hilton Bar is a business, you must order something, be it alcohol, food, or a soft drink. Please be considerate!

So got my shirt for Latula. It’s perfect teal, sleeveless, mockneck ribbed sweater thing. The problem is it is one of those shirts that looks teeny but then stretches to fit… Since it’s that ribbed stretchy fabric. So I’m really not sure what to make the red wraparound emblem and black wraparound stripe with? Since when it’s not on me, it shrinks… Can anyone help me, pretty please? I’m so lost.
Otakon Room Space Available!
Thanks to some cancellations, the room I’m in for Otakon has free space! We only have two people in the room right now, Friday-Saturday-Sunday at the Day’s Inn. There’s currently one boy and one girl, 21+ (although I don’t think it’d be too big of a deal if you aren’t 21+, provided you are mature and you aren’t like 14 or something). We’re JoJo fans who also like some Homestuck, among other things.
We’re both pretty chill and we’re hoping to find people who are also pretty chill. Cosplayers are totally OK, although considering that I am in the room, if you decide to paint yourself grey and you don’t seal your paint, I will yell at you and not let you leave the room until you have used powder and sealant. No starting drama allowed. This also is NOT a party room; we plan on getting actual sleep at night.

Looking for a Char Aznable helmet tutorial
I had this link bookmarked about two years ago but somehow I have lost the tutorial.
It was a tutorial on a cosplay blog about making a Char Aznable helmet and the primary technique it used was thin strips of cardboard in a web to get the curves, probably with masking tape, and then using resin or paper mache or something else over it (I am not fluent in Japanese now and I was significantly less fluent then).
The cosplayer whose blog it was also did a really good Baron (Cat Returns) mascot head and the tutorial section also had how she did the Baron head/helmet.
Anybody know what I’m talking about, or any techniques that are similar?
