real talk, tone policing is some fucked up garbage.  i come across some stuff on tumblr that i feel uncomfortable about semi-regularly and i am sometimes taken aback reading poc blogs about how PISSED THEY ARE and how much ANGER WORDS are expressed toward white folks, but dude, those people’s thoughts and feelings are not mine to police and if i’m uncomfortable hearing people’s reactions to living in the fucked society that is pretty gentle to me on account of my being a white person with some money in my pocket, that discomfort is mine to own.  and if i sit down and get inspired to think about other structural inequities based on those people sharing their pissed feelings, that’s no reason to minimize or criticize the original set of feelings because their thoughts and feelings are not mine to police

 

I can’t believe i am posting all this shit but I am pretty tired of the troglodytic views toward race and gender that are around in the weeb/internet nerd circles I seem to find myself in again.  You guys need to get civilized.
