Do you ever just want to punch an entire fandom in the face?

Alright, I’m just going to make an argument against fandom hate. I never understood it. Why don’t we all just respect the things that we like? It’s as simple as that. We all like separate things. And as usual, people generalize the fandom by the people who make everyone’s image of the actual thing as being “bad”. All people in a fandom are not bad. Just because someone is in a fandom that you dislike does not mean you have to disrespect their likes. I’m sick of seeing posts damning other fandoms and ruining the fun of people. It’s all a matter of respect. I happen to be in the Loki fandom, along with others. I don’t mind that you dislike the fandom, but you should respect other people’s likes and dislikes.

Alright I’m done, this probably was a waste of breath. Just love, not hate.

Normally I would agree, but there’s something about the Loki fans that just gets under my skin. I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest comic book fan, but sometimes I think the Loki fans forget that, well, he’s a comic book character. They know ONLY the Loki from the movies, and froth all over him just because they find Tom Hiddleston attractive, ignoring the fact that if Loki looked like he did in the comic books, he’d be treated with the disdain he should be.

The BBC Sherlock fandom is kind of in a similar vein, with people hating on Elementary blindly and kind of forgetting that these are stories based on books written a hundred years ago. I can’t really speak for this since I’m not in that fandom, though.

Fans who ignore the true source material are a HUGE pet peeve of mine, and always have been. I guess that’s the result of dealing with Gundam SEED and Macross Frontier fans for a few years.

In short, yeah, making fun of people simply for liking things is bad… but when they get REALLY annoying, then I have a problem.

And I like Homestuck. That should tell you how much tolerance I have for “annoying fandoms”.
