Which is the best (or the best one to watch first)?
Without question, the original movie trilogy. Don’t watch it dubbed, though. It’s hilariously bad because they had yet to establish the official translations for all the mobile suit and character names and pronunciations, so for the first movie you get “Gundamn” and ‘Zacku" all over the place, and in the second movie no two characters pronounce “Gouf” the same. Also Sayla has this bizarre European accent of unknown origin.
Still, the original movies are the best way to watch and get into the original Gundam. The first two are kind of slow-paced, but the third one more than makes up for it. I recommend the movies over the show because it trims out a lot of the fat, and it’s also a 7.5 hour watch versus a fifteen hour watch.
