What do you think is the funniest thing you've ever written in a comic?

Anonymous

Cap visits a school assembly and they have him lead the pledge of allegiance but "under God" wasn't added until he went under the ice so he doesn't know that part so he doesn't say it and the next day all the headlines say "CAPTAIN AMERICA FORGETS GOD" and FoxNews freaks out.

Wearing a brightly coloured jumpsuit with a great big target on your torso probably doesn’t seem very practical from an urban camouflage point of view, but for Steve Rogers, it’s perfect. Why is he wearing the old costume? So people will know that he’s Captain America. He’s trusting that people will see him and rally around him, because that’s the whole point of Cap.

That Cap/Falcon conversation (“How do we know which ones are the bad guys?” “They’ll be the ones shooting at us.”) isn’t just a snappy one-liner, it’s a tactical decision. In a war where no one is wearing a uniform and anyone could be the enemy, Steve is consciously choosing to represent one side instead of sneaking into SHIELD headquarters in disguise. So not only will he be able to tell who the bad guys are because they’re shooting at him, everyone else will be able to tell as well. Loyal SHIELD agents will know that if you’re shooting at the dude in the red, white and blue superhero costume, then you’re the enemy.

There’s also the possibility that the vintage Captain America costume helps Bucky regain his memory for long enough to stop murdering Steve in the face. Steve’s 21st century hair, clothes and uniform would all render him well-nigh unrecogniseable to Bucky’s distant memories of their life together, which are almost entirely subsumed by the Winter Soldier’s conditioning. Cap’s old wartime costume is the only thing that stands a chance of seeming familiar.

Costume and design in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I was wondering why he wore thst gaudy inferior costume. That actually makes a lot of sense.

It’s still an inferior costume (imo), but still.

At the beginning of the second paragraph, I was thinking Captain Falcon….

FREEDOM PUNCH!

#THE MOMENT I FELL IN LOVE WITH SAM WILSON TBH

#Bucky Barnes is getting way too much love#why does everyone fall in love with tragic angst boy?#Especially when we have Sam over here being the sweet complex snark monster#he has a tragic back story too#he’s just not in the middle of it#he’s recovering and helping people and being hilarious#Team Sam Wilson (tags via geekgirlsmash)

Sam isn’t fangirl material.

He’s black. He’s upbeat. He’s got issues but he’s dealing with them in his own way, on his own terms, without the emotional “poor liddle me” woobieness that fans love to emote all over the guys with tragic pasts.

i fucking love Sam Wilson. i was already like “YES PLEASE BE IN EVERY MARVEL FILM” the first time I saw this. like, Bucky is sad and woobie but good lord I wanna take care of Sam Wilson, too.

Sam Wilson is EVERYTHING. I want a Falcon movie more than another Batman film.

It’s times like these when you realize just how long Marvel’s been around and how long their main titles have been running.

tldr version: ‘solid dick’ used to be slang for straight-forward advice. So, no, that wasn’t a shop.

Now I want a fic in which Steve occasionally forgets that slang has changed and offers Sam “some solid dick” about a problem he’s having before immediately remembering what that means in 2014.

And then maybe realising some solid dick might also be a modern-day solution to said problem.
