NEED COUCH - Bay Area or AZ
Greetings,
My name is Clair Farley, I am with the SF LGBT Center and Trans House - a trans advocacy group in the Bay Area.
Today I spoke with a 19-year-old Saudi Arabian trans woman living in Arizona who says she’s facing life-threatening abuse and discrimination from family members. She has been refused housing in the shelter and has no support there. She said her father wants to send her back to Saudi Arabia where she will be killed for being trans.She has experienced years of violence and sexual abuse in Saudi Arabia before coming to the US for school.
When her parents discovered she was trans they cut her educational visa and school grant. They are threatening to send her back to Saudi Arabia where she could experience more violence or be killed. She is feeling scared and alone.
She is planning to take the bus to the Bay Area to seek Asylum and shelter but needs some temporary housing AZ. She is currently being abused by the relatives she is staying with AZ and was sexually assaulted in the the men’s shelter. She was refused a bed at the women’s shelters.
