LOOK AT THIS PICTURE OF YOSHIKI FUKUYAMA

HOLY SHIT

This was the first time I ever heard GONG, and probably the first video I ever watched on Youtube. I’m amazed it’s still up.

Did you ever wonder what it must be like to recording the opening themes to children’s cartoons

Science says this is among coolest videos on YouTube.

Would you argue with science? I wouldn’t.

Nov 4

after a long-ass car ride, I have returned from the JAM Project concert in Baltimore.

wow.

It was pretty fuckin’ awesome.

with the exception of the venue staff being dickheads (seriously, they threw away mine and Temi’s VIP passes, what the hell???), everything was completely wonderful. I’m not gonna try to remember the full order of songs, but I remember them singing…

  • Crest of Z’s
  • Vanguard
  • Hagane no Resistance
  • Break Out
  • Rocks
  • Victory
  • Transformers EVO
  • Rescue Fire
  • Gong
  • Savior in the Dark
  • Ki-Zu-Na
  • Skill
  • Head Cha-La
  • Rinbu Revolution
  • We Are!
  • Yuusha-Oh Tanjou

Also, because Fukuyama was unable to make it, they had him connect via skype. The connection was shitty, but pretty much everyone in the audience started dancing the monkey to get him to sing the King Gainer theme.

It totally worked.

He also sang Dynamite Explosion, but the connection was so bad we could barely hear it.

The opening acts, Faylan and Natsuko Aso were good as well, though I was more into Faylan. After the concert, we did the VIP party and all got stuff signed by the band. I was dumb and didn’t order my copy of SRW Alpha 2 early enough to have it signed by them, so I just had them sign the towel. During their Q&A session I was standing right between the two opening acts, and I asked Endoh Masaaki how many cans of hair spray he uses a year. His answer? 365.

I’m pretty sure Temi and I are going to show up in a ton of the Lantis videos because we were riiiight up in the front row with Cass’s friend who was cosplaying Guy from GaoGaiGar. They even asked me and Temi some questions after the show was over.

It was an amazing experience and I’m so glad I went. I got to meet so many awesome people and see such a great show. I really hope they come back, and soon!!
