So this is what I had been busting my butt to get ready for! Basically a half-serious suggestion that we spend time together before sending Shiroro off to Japan, my saved airline credits (due to cancelled Katsucon flight) and SUDDENLY We had one week of encouraging each other online to get our cos and props (model kits, in my case) done! IT HAPPENED and it was a blast!
Gunpla is serious business, but it’s also friendship, dorktimes, and good food! This makes up for my ONE good East Coast trip this year because I was unsure I was going at all! And now to get West Coast up to speed! Photoshoots! photoshoots at Hobby Shops and warm, open-air stadiums with summer-like weather even in winter LOL
LET’S DO GUNPLA!!
AND FOOD!
(and KitsuneSqueak just HAPPENED to have a Doraemon doll that was the same size as my Keroro!! SPIRIT ANIMALS!)

Sadly, this is pretty progressive by Sunrise standards. At the least its an SD that’s more aggressive then something like Bearguy. I mean, imagine the day when gundam makes a main female protagonist. (hint: Not for a very, very, very very long time)
The fact that a Japanese company acknowledges girls buy and love their male-targeted product is a pretty damn big leap, that’s for sure!
I think Gundam is ready to have a female protagonist. It might be the only way to freshen things up.
I think I might cry if I see another group of 15-year-old pilots. Gundam 00 was kind enough not to make ALL the Gundam Meisters 15 at least.
I’m not saying that it has to be some old dudes, but 17-18 at the very least would be nice.

It just bugs me because even Gunpla Builders was better in this regard. That show had girls who used Kampfers, Bawoos, and Zaku Snipers.

a 45 minute-long OVA was more progressive than a whole TV show, come on. D:

yeah that’s REALLY been bothering me a lot with this show. There’ve been some (rare) female builders in the background with different suits, including a Bolinoak Samahn, a Geymalk, and Arios or Kyrios; but like, two of those suits had female pilots to begin with…

c'mon, Build Fighters, gimme a girl who loves Jegans or something…
