i wanted 2 see the new godzilla movei but then i saw that one post about how it totally erases all the meaning and the cultural background and now im like ‘nah’

Dude, anyone who thinks that the changed up origin story is going to “ruin” Godzilla or change his cultural meaning doesn’t know shit about Godzilla. Yeah, he started as a metaphor for the A-bomb, and the anxieties felt by the Japanese in its wake…

…but by the 70’s he was a goddamn superhero who helped teach children how to be brave and stand up to bullies.

This is a character that has been around for a half a century, he has continually evolved and carved out his own niche in pop culture that goes far beyond the intent of the original film. 

also, aren’t they making this a sequel to the original a la the Millennium Series movies?

oh and guess what? remember a certain NUCLEAR REACTOR disaster a few years ago? that’s KINDA STILL RELEVANT or did you forget that already.
