OKAY I’M DRUNK ENOUGH FOR THIS NOW

First off, it doesn’t do its job very well. It’s a Bandai-sponsored robot show from the mid 80’s, and yet, the first episode features NO TOY MECHA WHATSOEVER. THE SHOW HAD ONE TOY. Not only that, it did a cardinal sin by doing the whole “let’s introduce each character in each successive episode and give them NO TIME TO DEVELOP before we introduce the next one!”. I HATE that.Also, Masato? That poor kid got the massive shaft, as he does next to nothing in the whole show. His “clip show memory” is from an episode that developed EVERYONE’S character, not him. Oh, and did I mention the show has TWO CLIP SHOWS?
Additionally, the animation is inconsistent as hell. It starts off SUPER NICE but then devolves into fucking garbage. Also what’s up withthe character designs? It’s like they all come from different shows…
Oh, and why does it take them like TEN EPISODES to learn their robots have robot modes, and FIFTEEN for them to combine? like shit, the fucking eagle has GIANT ROBOT HANDS underneath the fuselage. HOW DO YOU MISS THAT.
The villains are hella stupid, and how does NOBODY notice that Shapiro CLEARLY LEFT THE BATTLEFIELD IN THE FIRST EPISODE. Sara, you fucking moron, you knew that he had crazy evil ambitions and you DIDN’T BOTHER to tell anyone that he MIGHT JUST BE telling the enemies where all of your strategic locations are??
General Ross Igor is a fucking abusive asshole. Like, the commander needs to be stern, I get that. But this fucker just doesn’t listen to reason! His orders flat out didn’t make sense, and frankly I was happy to see him die.
Oh, and the fucking ending? HAHA ENJOY BUYING OUR OVA SPECIAL.

also there’s one episode where they use the same stock animation THREE TIMES.
I’m a little bugged that Madoka and Sayaka haven’t henshined yet, but well, at least I know the wait won’t be as annoying as, well, this…
I was going through an episode of 80s Mahou Shoujo show Pastel Yumi as I’d heard it had some animation by Obari.
In ep 3, Yumi gets taken by a Gorilla and so the grandpa gives the gorilla a flying kick, as the kick lands, for a split second you can see the original Dancouga appear! Most out of place key frame I’ve seen.
