i hear there are a lot of people who think twin peaks is unremittingly misogynistic because it shows so much violence against women. the whole basis of the show is the murder of woman and the ongoing violence against women in the small american town.

I remember when people started calling Bioshock Infinite racist because it deals with racism in the early 1900’s.
Something that, y’know, was a thing that existed.
That’s not really why it’s considered racist. It’s considered racist because A) It depicts the usual trope of the oppressed minorities needing a white guy to be their representative to help them achieve equality and (the bigger reason, for me) B) is that it shows that the oppressed is exactly as bad as the oppressor when put into power and that people striving for equality are just as much monsters are the people who put them down, which is like twelve kinds of stupid.
I haven’t watched Twin Peaks yet, but I need to do that.
ah, well, to be fair I haven’t actually played the game (so I guess I should stfu). But I was mostly referring to people saying it was racist in response to all of the stuff written on the walls and whatnot that was, y'know, intended to be terrible.
(Kinda less interested in playing it now, though. Besides, we all know I’m a monster who likes to put down my oppressors ;) )
