pacific rim is literally an evangelion movie in that it’s about monsters attacking earth, and humans fight them by building huge robots piloted via mind control that lends itself to a lot of emotional melodrama, which are funded by a shady group of international governments who give the guy running the project a lot of flack when things go wrong
and simultaneously pacific rim is nothing like evangelion because it’s 100% non-pretentious, non-misogynistic fun sincerely desiring to entertain the audience while also respecting them the entire way through
