i just get really annoyed by people who think that women enjoying mecha is an amazing new development when holy shit it’s been going on since at least the 70s and i’d be willing to bet there’s quite a few women out there who know far more about some obscure illustrated novel in dengeki hobby magazine than you do so shut the fuck up with your patronising bullcrap argh
^ This. At the risk of sounding like I’m bragging, other people have long considered me—a female—to be one of the most knowledgeable fans out there, male or female alike, for one of the more obscure, underappreciated Gundam series in existence. And that includes the mecha as much as the characters and plot too. (I mean dammit, if it weren’t for some of the stuff I’ve done, I’m sure there’d probably be rather fewer Gundam X fans out there, because I was into it and spreading the word about it back when virtually no one else was giving it a chance.)
I don’t think I deserve any special medal or anything for being a female mecha fan. I just want to show the OP that a lot of us girls know our shit and shouldn’t be treated as some weird endangered species.
yeah, sometimes I feel most of the praise I get on Sophie’s Gunpla is just “OMG YOU’RE A GIRL AND BUILD MODELS YOU’RE SPECIAL”, like, no, please…
