Trans men get just as much hate as trans women do, for exactly the same reasons, just saying.
Trans men get a lot of hate on their own (especially in the homosexual dating scene), sure, but as much? I don’t think so.
Trans women have a history of being stigmatized, abused by the media, and often having to live their lives out as sex workers, because nobody will hire them. There’s a reason “transmisogyny” is a word and “transmisandry” isn’t.
Here’s what I like to say: When you’re a trans man, you lose cis privilege, but gain male privilege. When you’re a trans woman, you sacrifice both.
At the end of the day, trans women are easier for people to make fun of because the concept of a man becoming a woman is “sensational” because it’s seen as degrading. The idea of a “man in women’s clothing” is seen as funny because, well, women are considered “below men” in patriarchal society. And ultimately, that’s what it all comes back to: patriarchy.
And these days, with so many trans men coming out, people are starting to hear them, and only them, while leaving the women behind in the dust. Inadvertently, of course.
I’m not trying to put trans men down. I’m trying to get people to understand why trans women get so much shit.
