fansubs at their finest

Actual translation from an intermediate Japanese student!

First picture:
“Cross the center of the earth”

Clockwise starting at right of sign: “ka”, “no”

Second picture:
Clockwise from bottom: “se” “ka” “i” “no”, “[The] world’s”. It might be what they were trying to say, but the kana symbols are jumbled so it might just be random floating kana.

This picture”ki”, “do” ( more accurately “A-T-O-R”, as the japanese word for equator is sekido.)

The fourth picture… well, all of the letters are jumbled up, facing opposite directions, and covered in steam. It’s about as useful to translate as translating alphabet soup. However, the kana that aren’t covered by steam would have contextual meaning here— “na” “ka” “n” “ka” could be “naka n ka?” a shortened form of “naka n desu ka?” — “Aren’t you at the center?”

So. I did that in about five minutes. Lazy bastards, them fansubbers.

jesus christ

These aren’t fansubs. It’s from the official release of Shin-Chan. And not translating them was, y'know, part of the joke.
