You know, sometimes I feel as though the high amount of trans males on tumblr has made it harder for trans females.

As I said before, when you’re FTM, you gain male privilege but lose cis privilege, but when you’re MTF, you lose both. The problem with valuing* trans males so much is you forget that trans women have a hell of a lot more problems to deal with.

And it’s all because of misogyny as a whole.

It’s much more dignified to yell out “I’M A MAN” than “I’M A WOMAN” because when you’re transitioning from female to male, you’re seen as “going up” in society.

Because of what male clothes represent in society, it’s much easier for trans males who aren’t out to present in public, and let’s be honest, their hormones work better. Sure, we have better surgeries, but those really don’t help much for passing in public. Trans women aren’t being held to the standards cis women have to live up to: we’re being held to higher ones. We have to watch our appearance a lot more, our mannerisms, our voices, etc. It’s much easier to be an effeminate man than a masculine woman.

I’m just making observations, so please don’t throw me into the fire.

*I say “value” because a lot of cis drawn art of trans people tends to portray female to male characters than male to female ones (and you can usually tell when it’s drawn by a cis person, because well, ace bandages…)
