Alright, I need to talk about this whole Heero and Trowa Mobile Doll business.

This was an awesome concept. One that had yet to be used in Gundam (at least in anime form, anyway): taking the battle data of protagonist characters and using it against them, It’s an awesome concept!

Too bad it was used in the absolute worst way possible.

There was a huge buildup to this in the episode, and it’s… not very important within its context. The fight is horribly underwhelming, lasting just a few minutes between Duo and the Mercurius and Vayeate. The fight is just a little bit tougher and Duo, of course, makes quick work of them.

Come on, really?! That’s it?

Why not have the two dolls go up against, I dunno, HEERO AND TROWA? Or better yet, why don’t they actually FIGHT like Heero and Trowa?! They just act like sightly quicker mobile dolls. Of course, it’s not like those two have distinctive fighting styles to begin with; Trowa’s being “stand in one spot and unload your ammo”. That’s more of an overall problem with the series. Still, they could have at least had fun with stock poses.

This wouldn’t have been so bad if they didn’t JUST DO the same concept, just with Zero-system equipped Virgos… that were just slightly tougher. HEY WHY DON’T THEY GO CRAZY, YOU KNOW, LIKE WHEN EVERYONE USED THE ZERO SYSTEM? OH WAIT, THAT ACTUALLY WOULD HAVE BEENINTERESTING.

Ugh. This show, man. This fucking show.
