I think the real news here is OMG PINK LEGO STUFF?

Brb. everything.

I feel like one of the few people to react with a “FUCK YES!” at the availability of pink Lego blocks.

Me too! everyone be all mad blah blah blah gender roles blah blah. But really whats important here is that there will be pink Lego blocks. Now I have to find my old Pirate ship set and replace them with pink so I can have a pink pirate set.

Pink LEGO shit has existed for like ten years. The people bitching about LEGO Friends are seriously behind the times, completely forgetting about shit like Belville, Scala, and Paradisa, to name a few.

For the record, all of those themes tanked. But that’s neither here nor there.

It’s not just “pink legos,” it’s an entire new set with girls that only wear super mini skirts and are not able to do anything besides cook, clean, and go to beauty salons to “get pretty so boys will like them.”

They did away with the classic Lego figures and made complete new characters with curves and make up.

It’s extremely demeaning. It’s extremely sexist. Sort of like how none of the regular Lego sets include girl characters anymore, *not even hermoine.* right, hermoine does not exist in the Lego harry potter world, nor does any other female character from the series. Hogwarts includes harry, ron, Sirius, dumbledore, and snaps. Weird how they’d leave out one of the biggest characters in the entire series just because of her sex.

There’s a lot of shit wrong with legos, and it’s only getting worse.

Guess what? The old Belville and Scala sets had miniskirts and shit, too, and didn’t use the traditional minifigure design. This is not new.

Also, bullshit on Hermione. There’s been several Hermione minifigs. See? http://www.bricklink.com/browseList.asp?pg=1&itemType=M&catString=227 Along with several other HP characters. They are rare, yes, but they exist. It’s better here than it is in many other “boy’s toylines”.

Is LEGO Friends problematic? yes, yes it is. But it’s nothing new. What LEGO needs to do is drop the “girls lines” altogether and market like they did it the 80’s.

I may be level-headed on social issues, but when you start talking out of your ass regarding toys and other nerdy shit, that’s when the fury is unleashed.
