Okay, so I keep hearing this around the interwebs these days. I’m kinda conflicted on the whole thing. I said this on the topic to stfusexists about a week or so ago:

“I’m a transwoman. I’ll admit, I’m not the type who would say “die cis scum”. I’d also tell others not to say that, but I can see where it’s coming from. Those who say that are tired of being harassed by ignorant cispeople. It’s no different than when people of color say shit about white people. It’s not because they think whites are inferior, it’s because they’re fed up with their bullshit. Trust me, I’m pretty sure most trans* people don’t consider themselves “superior” to cispeople.”

I don’t think anyone should ever consider themselves superior to another group (unless said group IS serious douchebags). I realize we’re kinda fucked over in almost every sense of the word… but you’re not doing the whole group ANY favors by telling others that they’re scum and that they should die. It kinda reflects poorly on everyone and makes us look like crazies. 

If you want to get the word out, don’t tell those who aren’t like us to die, even if you’re referring to a “specific group” of them (see: that venn diagram that’s been floating around), because guess what? They’re not gonna know the difference.

So plain and simple? Don’t be a douchebag. This goes for EVERYONE in every group ever. Yes, we should challenge the status quo, but trust me, telling them to die won’t get us anywhere.
