>Best character
>SEED and SEED Destiny
That’s like saying this is the best pile of shit in the cow pasture.
Cagalli was pretty good in SEED. Too bad the bitch writing Destiny couldn’t take her VA’s criticism and fucked up Cagalli’s character as a result.
LOL, do people still believe that never proved rumor? I did people ask straight-up for sources and they never delivered, whining about how they had OMG HEARD about it and calling me names for actually requesting proof of their accusations.
Oh, and “the bitch writing Destiny” aka Chiaki Morosawa has cancer and that’s why the scripts were late and sloppy. It’s not in good taste to refer to gravely ill people as “bitches” for things that may have not been even true, you see, and even if it WAS true it’s in pretty poor taste. Then again I clearly remember selfish and whiny fans from the Gundam forums saying that Morosawa deserved her illness just because they didn’t like Destiny… if not outright stating that they wanted the woman DEAD for it.
Entitlement at its finest, I see.
As for the secret itself? Yeah, I agree. What other people see as “whining”, “chickification” and “idiocy” is actually character development. In GSD Cagalli is in for a freaking RUDE awakening because now she can’t solve everything via punching dudes and piloting mecha, so it’s LOGICAL that she’ll end up breaking down. And she then learned her lesson, became emotionally stronger, and decided to keep on rebuilding Orb and being its Queen. That takes balls, er, boobs.
Stop making excuses for a shitty series. Gundam SEED Destiny is bad, period. A lot of other infamously crappy sci-fi projects like Star Trek V had a lot of factors working against it and that doesn’t change the fact that it’s, well, crap.
There’s character development and there’s character destruction. This is the latter. They took a once interesting (and probably one of SEED’s only characters that actually stood out) and simply made her suck. There’s no excusing that.
Also, that Gunota article states that she fell ill following Destiny, which is why the movie never came out. It states nothing about the television series.
Baw baw, can’t accept different opinions than your own and thus there come the insults. I have mine, you have yours, and since you seemingly cannot counter what I said in disagreement, then you start whining and throwing babyish tantrums. Typical hater.
Oh, and it doesn’t exactly matter whether she fell ill before, during or after the series. The “bitch writing Destiny” is still a human person whom you gratuitously insult over never confirmed stuff that is most likely false. You refuse to aknowledge that point and start the bawwing over how I don’t consider GSD the worst series ever… thus nicely proving my point about how entitled and whiny the GSD anti-fans are.
I also gave a reason for Cagalli being the way she is and you can’t even really argue against it, thus BAWBAW you start with the “character destruction”. I hate when people bash a woman for “not being strong”, when in fact Cagalli has all the reason in the world to not be 100% supuh strong. But what do you know, you and others apparently think that women aren’t worthy an ounce of respect unless they act “strong” aka insensitive and emotionless except for RAGE. Because the bitch dares not be KEWL and *oh* show humanity.
So yeah, you’re still entitled. BAWWWWWWW.
You seem like the one who’s mad here. You’re the one who dug up a post made MONTHS ago just to “show up” my possibly false information with YOUR possibly false information.
Also, George Lucas is a human with human feelings, and most of us don’t have too much of a problem insulting him for the shit he’s made. And what’s up with the entitlement crap? I think the show sucks and I’m tired of people making excuses for it, that’s all. It’s not just Morosawa’s fault, it’s the fault of pretty much EVERYBODY INVOLVED. The animators used tons of stock footage, the new characters got nerfed in favor of the old ones, the mecha designs were tired rehashes, and the 50 episode show had four clip shows. You can make all the excuses you want, but to me, it’s still a bad show.
It’s also possible for a character’s demeanor to change without their whole personality shifting. This happens a lot in Gundam. Let’s take Victory Gundam’s Katejina Loos for example. Early in the series she was a civilian, a friend of Usso’s. By the end, she was one of the series’ (and franchises’s) craziest villainesses. This happened due to events in her development causing her to become that way, not a dramatic shift in tone given without much reason. Conversely, between Zeta Gundam and Char’s Counterattack, Char goes from an idealist who wants the Earth to recover to a kinda creepy guy with a mommy complex who more or less wants to destroy the Earth. This kind of development ISN’T good because it isn’t brought on with any explanation. Cagalli falls more into Char’s category than Katejina’s.
For the record I don’t consider anything in SEED to be “teh worst evar”. SEED (even Destiny) has plenty of shit I like, and as far as most of the “haters” are concerned, I’m one of the more level-headed ones because I can go in with an objective look at thing. I just don’t like it when people give excuses that really won’t change a lot of minds.
I’d like to make the entirely offtopic point that I believe Char’s dramatic shift between Zeta and CCA is essentially caused by insanity. The sort of psychic shockwave Scirocco unleashed against Kamille probably hit Char to some degree as well, and that combined with him floating around in space for an undetermined time probably knocked a few screws loose, so that when he reappears in CCA he’s just not all there.
Yeah, but that’s just speculation. I abide by “what we see on-screen counts”.
